APC joins with other civil society organisations to denounce that while the Committee on NGOs is the gatekeeper to civil society access and is entrusted with monitoring the relationship between NGOs and the UN, the Committee’s practices violate its mandate.
The Committee on NGOs is entrusted with facilitating civil society access so that the expertise and experience of civil society partners can enrich and inform UN debates. It needs members committed to fulfilling this mandate in a fair, transparent, non-discriminatory and apolitical manner.
APC and other civil society organisations issued this joint statement at the conclusion of the 44th regular session of the Human Rights Council to welcome the advances made, express concern over continued rights violations, and put forward recommendations for future efforts by the Council.
This research aims to examine the performance of Palestinian organisations in relation to their media activity and their usage of social and digital media in particular. In many cases, the high levels of social media consumption by Palestinian society has imposed such means of communication on these organisations and associations.
