7amleh has released a new research report about YouTube’s violations of Palestinian digital rights, as part of a series that focuses on violations of Palestinian digital rights and digital discrimination against Palestinians by international technology companies.
7amleh – The Arab Center for the Advancement of Social Media warns of Israel committing mass violations of digital rights, especially the right to privacy, under the pretext of managing the health crisis caused by the coronavirus.

In order to exert pressure on the Palestinian government, coalitions held meetings between civil society representatives and governmental bodies concerning amendment of the law in 2017. These ongoing discussions in addition to campaigns launched by activists, journalists and lawyers compelled the government to issue a new law no. 10 in 2018 regarding Cybercrime.
7amleh – The Arab Center for the Advancement of Social Media published its annual research report on Palestinian digital activism. The report, titled #Palestine 2017, provides information about internet access and usage, examines the most dominant social and political campaigns and viral hashtags, and monitors human and digital rights violations against Palestinians.
7amleh Center publishes research on Palestinian civil society organisation’s digital activism and training needs.
This report analyses freedoms in the Palestinian virtual sphere, especially in the context of violations that have recently been perpetrated against activists on social media platforms and the restrictions on freedom of speech online committed by the Israeli occupation, legislations from the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank and Hamas in Gaza, as well as companies.
Hundreds of students, activists and human rights defenders attended the second Palestine Digital Activism Forum in Ramallah on 17 January 2018. The event was hosted by 7amleh – the Arab Center for Social Media Advancement, a non-profit organisation aimed at enabling Palestinian and Arab civil society, which has been a member of the APC network since June 2017.
