PROTEGE QV will join the rest of the world over to celebrate the Software Freedom Day (SFD) 2008 taking place on September 20. This year, the organisers are partnering with the local District divisional office and the Inspectorate of secondary education.
The innovation in this year’s free and open source software (FOSS) activities in Yaounde, Cameroon, is that they will be help in an open air setting. The activities include the initiation of fellow civil society organisations and students to the use of LINUX; training on video set up for digital storytelling; preparing general Certificates of Education online using FOSS.
All the activities take place on September 20 2008 at the head office of PROTEGE QV, in the Yaounde 6th District divisional office hall.
In previous FSD editions in Yaounde, PROTEGE QV has trained participants with the help of open CDs, through which pieces of free software were distributed to the local population. APC’s cameroonian member has extensive experience in software training.
