AfIGF
The multistakeholder model affords the AfIGF an opportunity to engage a variety of topics and issues that affect and impact citizens, governments, the private sector and end-users of the internet at their various levels. It is not just a talk shop, it is an opportunity to listen and to be heard, and to continue the discussion within the various stakeholder groups, nationally, regionally and globally.
Over recent years, APC has worked to increase the capacity of civil society actors, particularly from the global South, to contribute to and influence internet governance processes. This overview looks at the APC community’s contributions to more effective and inclusive governance in 2018.
The Association for Progressive Communications (APC) is pleased to announce the call for applications for the fifth African School on Internet Governance (AfriSIG), to be held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt from 28 November to 2 December.
The second African IGF is taking place in Nairobi, Kenya, from 24-26 September. APC is a sponsoring organisation and is holding a pre-event on on multi-stakeholder processes.
Earlier in October, APCNews crossed paths with three participants at the Africa Internet Governance Forum. Grace Githaiga of Kenya, Towela Nyirenda Jere of South Africa and Lillian Nalwoga of Uganda kindly agreed to provide perspectives on internet governance in Africa.
