Las corrientes del ciberfeminismo para muchas estudiosas del tema comenzaron en la década de los 80 del siglo pasado, con Donna Haraway y su Manifiesto Ciborg (1984). Pero no hay duda que con el desarrollo de internet en los 90 y el nacimiento de las redes sociales en la primer década de este siglo, los ciberfeminismos han encontrado en los espacios digitales y en las herramientas tecnológicas elementos clave para el desarrollo de conceptos y discursos, la difusión de sus postulados, y un ámbito abierto para el activismo.
